Alex graduated from the Royal College of Music, where he was a Queen Mother Scholar, in 1997 and since then has gained considerable professional experience with international orchestras and ensembles.

As a freelance musician Alex has played with groups throughout Europe including the Norske Blåseensemble, Philharmonia Orchestra, Independant Opera, RSC, Manning Camerata, Belmont Ensemble, London Soloists Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional do Porto and Orquesta de Tenerife, Philharmonie der Nationen and Southbank Sinfonia. Alongside his classical experience he has also worked professionally with big bands and pop acts, and made a number of recordings for television and radio.

In 2006 Alex played the cornet part in the Motion Group Production of Stravinky's The Soldier’s Tale at London's Old Vic conducted by Robin O'Neill. The company worked with Stravinsky’s original score, Ramuz’s story translated into Arabic by Abdulkareem Kasid and into English by Rebecca Lenkiewicz and new Iraqi music by Ahmed Mukhtar.

Alex has performed as soloist in various London concert venues including the Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, Westminster Abbey, Purcell Room and Royal Albert Hall. Favourite projects for 2008 included the release of 2 ensemble CDs, including the widely anticipated debut album by the Avenue-A Ensemble which can be purchased now at iTunes (or listened to for free on Spotify) and the new recordings of two Maconchy operas from Independent Opera for Chandos.

In 2008/09 Alex was a full-time member of the orchestra for the West End production of Carousel starring Alexandra Silber, Jeremiah James, Lauren Hood and Lesley Garrett which played at the Savoy on the Strand. Alex was also 3rd Musical Director of the production and regularly conducted performances of the show.
